From the pier to Glencoe
The Onich fish
I can’t see a lot of point anchoring off Onich. The views may be spectacular, down Loch Linnhe and up Loch Leven, but the main road is very intrusive – after all this is one of the main tourist routes in Scotland connecting the honey pots of Oban, Glencoe, Fort William and Loch Ness. But, if you do anchor here there is a bit of a walk on the shell beach and a lonely standing stone in a field to the west of the pier. And on the pier there is a strange metal fish gazing mournfully into the wind. The Onich hotel looks quite nice (and there is a mooring) but I have not been there (01855 821214).
