Sound of Mull
Who cannot fail to be charmed by the Sound of Mull? Cuckoos in the spring, CalMac ferries steaming up and down, snow on the hills in the early autumn, views of Ben Moore, and the prospect of Ardnamurchan point and the open sea as you turn the corner at Tobermory. And despite some fairly impressive squalls it is a safe place to be, even when the weather is bad elsewhere, with easy havens to get into like Lochaline and Tobermory, in the dark if necessary. And there is always Loch Sunart as another escape route.
