On a wet day, with fractious children, you might want to go to the cinema even if your laptops and tablets are loaded with films. But if you do, there is hardly any choice. The only remaining proper cinema is the Highland Cinema in Fort William. However, if you want a unique experience, track down the Screen Machine, a mobile cinema which has been touring all over the Highlands and Islands since 1998. Outside it is just a big truck, but inside is like a real, small and comfortable cinema. Very well worth supporting, especially as it has only recently been saved by a major fund-raising campaign.
